United Western Bank MD asked to step down

MUMBAI APRIL 8. The Managing Director of United Western Bank (UWB), S. T. Gadre, has been giving marching orders by the Reserve Bank of India.

``The official was asked to go last Thursday as he failed to sort out the crises facing the bank,'' RBI sources said here today.

The performance of the Satara-based private sector bank has been suffering as it failed to sort out the legal tussle between the management and the Makharia-SICOM group, sources added.
