Pak. lodges protest

By B. Muralidhar Reddy

ISLAMABAD APRIL 16. Pakistan tonight accused the Indian `intelligence operatives' of abduction, illegal detention and torture of a staffer of the its High Commission in New Delhi.

In a press statement here, the Pakistan Foreign Office claimed that around 11.30 a.m. today, Ali Abbas, a staffer in the Delhi mission, was abducted by at least 12 Indian intelligence operatives. "He was severely beaten up and taken to an undisclosed location where he was subjected to severe torture including electric shocks. As a result of the torture inflicted on Mr. Ali Abbas, he has been passing blood in his urine''. A strong protest had been lodged with New Delhi over the "cowardly, despicably and provocative action by Indian intelligence operatives".
