NMDC's profit at Rs. 320 cr.

HYDERABAD: National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC), a Central Government enterprise, has earned the highest profit of Rs.320 crores, before tax, in its existence, for the year ended March 2002. Iron ore production was 17.05 million tonnes (5 per cent more than the previous year), lump and fines production was 15.56 million tonnes (3 per cent growth), diamond production 81,247 carats and diamond sales 68,056 carats, an increase of 43 per cent and 53 per cent respectively over the previous year.
