Academy presents awards

MANGALORE APRIL 18. The Karnataka State Nataka Academy awards for 2001 were presented at a glittering function at Kalangann in Shaktinagar here on Tuesday. Twenty-five upcoming theatre artistes and playwrights received the awards from the noted filmmaker, G.V. Iyer, the Minister of State for Kannada and Culture, Rani Sathish, and the Director of the National School of Drama, Devendraraj Ankur. The award-winners are: V.V. Anantha Rangachar, Mysore; H.T. Kasturamma, Davangere; Gangacharan, Hassan; B. Jayaprakash Gowda, Mandya; S. Thimappa, Bellary; C.M. Thimmiah, Bangalore; Basappa Dandina Kallura, Gadag; A. Murigeppa, Dharwad; N.S. Murthy, Tumkur; H.R. Ramesh, Chitradurga; J. Ravindra, Mangalore; N.K. Ramakrishna, Bangalore; Ramakrishna Marathe, Belgaum; H.K. Ramanath, Mysore; K. Ramaiah, Bangalore; Richard Louis, Bangalore; A. Varalakshmi, Bellary; Vani Saraswathi Naidu, Hubli; G. Venkateshalu, Tumkur; A. Shankar Bheemappa Hadapada, Raichur; Shivappa Gollappa Kalannavar, Bagalkot; K. Shivarudriah, Bangalore; Shridhar Ganapathy Hegde, Siddapura; Sadananda Shanbhag, Sirsi; and Sadananda Suvarna, Mumbai (originally from Dakshina Kannada District).
