One of the glaring irregularities pointed out by the party was the production of fake degree certificates by 65 voters from Malur in Kolar District in the South-East Graduates' Constituency. The same certificates were produced with different names. There was also a case in which a former minister and his children from Harihar were shown as voters in Davangere. In another case, an advocate enrolled her name in Tumkur and Davangere, according to the President of the BJP State unit, Basavaraj Patil Sedam, and A.H. Shivayogi Swamy, who represents the South-East Graduates' Constituency in the Council. They told presspersons here that following a written complaint earlier about the enrolment of voters on the basis of fake degree certificates and false addresses, the Returning Officer for the South-East Graduates' Constituency had initiated action to delete the names of 1,594 voters. The party had recommended the names of Dr. Swami (South-East Graduates' Constituency), Nimbannanavar (South-West Graduates' Constituency), and Shashil G. Namoshi (North-East Teachers' Constituency) to the central election committee.
