Pakistan wins final in an emphatic fashion

SHARJAH April 18. Fiery Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and Shoaib Akhtar produced stunning spells of pace bowling to rip through Sri Lanka as Pakistan won the Sharjah Cup final by 217 runs on Wednesday.

Waqar and Shoaib took three wickets each while Wasim claimed two as Sri Lanka, set to overhaul Pakistan's massive 295 for six, was shot out for a meagre 78, losing the last eight wickets for 26 runs.

Pakistan fully exploited the absence of Muttiah Muralitharan who injured his left shoulder during the match to pace its innings with ease. — AFP
