A.P. power officials' talks in Orissa

By Our Special Correspondent

Hyderabad April 18 The Andhra Pradesh Genco team of officials held a meeting with their Gridco counterparts at Jeypore on Thursday, impressing upon them that the payments due to Gridco for the power sales made to AP Transco could be set off against the arrears due to AP Genco from Gridco towards its share of O & M costs on Machkhund project and towards the ''excess drawal'' made by Orissa from this plant.

A top official in Vidyuth Soudha said the dialogue is independent of the power supply to the State from Gridco which has since been stopped over the payments issue. He stated that the Transco Commercial Director was in constant touch with the Gridco officials for restoration of the supply and there were already positive signals. The picture would be clear by tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the flow from Gridco remains suspended for yet another day with a marginal impact on the supply in the State. The supply from Gridco would have given a little edge to the Transco, the official said.
