A senior official and two journalists will accompany each of the five teams covering the 254 MLAs. A GO was issued by the GAD (Political) on Tuesday spelling out details of the tour of Malaysia, China, Singapore, Thailand and South Korea. The first team will leave on May 5 and return on May 19, the second team will depart on May 12 and be back on May 26. The other teams leave on June 9, 16 and 23. The departures are all Sundays when Malaysian Airlines flight leaves Hyderabad for Kuala Lumpur. The last team returns on July 6. It may be recalled that during the recent session of the Assembly, the Chief Minister suggested that the Members visit these South Asian countries for a first-hand knowledge and appreciation of the progress made by them. A 5-member team led by K. Venkata Rao, Government Chief Whip, was set up to finalise the programme and work out details with the travel agents. Other members are, E. Dayakar Rao, Government Whip, Della Godfrey, N. Indrasena Reddy and K.R.Suresh Reddy, MLAs. The Government awarded the tours to the Travel Corporation of India (TCI) P. Ltd, SOTC-SITA, Satellite Travels and Cox & Kings, the last named which would handle two teams. The cost of one ticket would be Rs 1.33 lakhs, inclusive of cost of air fare, 4-star hotel accommodation, airport and other Government taxes, air insurance, meals, transfers from hotels, airport and to places of tourist interest along with cost of entry tickets.
