Breakthrough in bank robbery case

By Our Special Correspondent

CHENNAI April 18. It appears that the police have made a breakthrough in the bank robbery attempt case at Besant Nagar in which a deputy manager was murdered.

Though officials are tightlipped about the case, enquiries reveal that a person from Mahakavi Bharathi Nagar in Vysarpadi who had supplied bombs to the gangsters has been picked up.

The gangsters used country bombs during the crime but they did not explode. It is learnt that the operation had been planned by a group in the prison, and insider links with the bank at the lower levels is also being investigated.
