Opinion - Letters to the Editor

Not the reality

Sir, — This has reference to Don Patrick's letter (April 22). Presumably, Mr. Patrick does not belong to the Sangh Parivar. Mr. Nayyar, therefore, must pay attention to his questions. It is indeed a pity that a senior columnist like him makes claims for which he has only speculated information but no evidence. If he really knew in advance about things that were going to take place in Gujarat, or if he came to know about them later, he must have approached the appropriate authorities.

As a responsible citizen, he did not do that. In fact, he has hardly any proof in his possession. His objective must have been simply to make his writings sensational and, thereby, secure his own position as a columnist.

In my opinion, authors start publicising their private perceptions as the prevailing reality.
