Governor greetings on Mahavir Jayanthi

CHENNAI April 24 . The Governor and the Chief Minister have greeted Jains on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanthi. ``On the birthday of Mahavir, who preached us non-violence, let us pledge to promote peace, tolerance and brotherhood,'' the Governor, P. S. Ramamohan Rao, said in a message.

The Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, said Mahavir taught people that tolerance was their biggest strength. She expressed the hope that the designs of those who sought to divide people in the name of caste and religion would not succeed .
