''Instant examination'' for failed students will be held from May 29 to June 11 and the results of this examination will be declared on July 6. These announcements were made by the Minister for Primary Education, Mandava Venkateswara Rao, at a press conference here on Wednesday at which the Secretary and the Commissioner for School Education I. V. Subba Rao, and Manmohan Singh respectively were also present. A total of 9,81,000 students have appeared for the SSC examination. The Minister said the instant examination was held to help failed students join the Intermediate without losing one academic year. He clarified that the instant examination could be attempted irrespective of the number of subjects in which the candidate might have failed.
