Intruder nabbed

ISLAMABAD APRIL 26. In a major security lapse, an unidentified man sat next to the Pakistan President, Pervez Musharraf, on the dais, drank water from the glass meant for him and interrupted the General as he rose to address a referendum rally at Rawalpindi yesterday.

The man, sporting a beard and who everyone on the dais presumed to be part of the Presidential security, told Gen. Musharraf, "wait Mr. President", as the military ruler approached the mike to address the gathering, media reports said today.

The man started uttering something over the microphone but was quickly pushed away by the Governor of Punjab province, Lt. Gen. (Retd) Khalid Maqbool.

He was immediately whisked away by the security staff, beaten up and arrested. — PTI
