Fernandes denies disrespect to women

New Delhi May 3. Under fire from some women MPs for making certain comments against the fair sex, Defence Minister George Fernandes today said he did not intend to show disrespect to women in anyway during his speech in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.

``I wish to categorically state that nowhere in my speech was there even a remotest attempt to disrespect women of our country for whose dignity and welfare I have fought all through my life'', he said after women's organisations accused him of justifying violence against women during recent clashes in Gujarat.
