The prestigious title of Saptagiri Sangeeta Vidwan Mani, annually conferred upon an outstanding artist by the Sri Thyagaraja Festival Committee, Tirupati, will be awarded this year to six eminent artists to mark its diamond jubilee.

The artistes are: (vocal): K.J. Yesudas and Madurai N. Krishnan; (violin): Annavarapu Ramaswamy; (mridangam): Dandamudi Ram Mohan Rao; (kanjeera): C. Ramachar; (dance): Smt. Shoba Naidu. Three of the artists are from Andhra Pradesh representing violin, mridangam and dance, and one each from Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu (vocal and kanjeera).
