Karnataka-Bangalore
By Our Special Correspondent
Repeating its much appreciated performance last year, the KSTDC will help the students -- many of whom will be coming here for the first time -- in their accommodation and transportation needs. Though the CET examination centres are spread across the State, the majority of candidates from outside Karnataka prefer to write the test in Bangalore, which can be easily reached. The CET Cell had sent the KSTDC information brochures along with application forms to all out-of-State students who applied for taking the test. The brochures contained information about the services offered by the tourism corporation. A large number of students had shown interest in the packages offered, KSTDC officials said. Meanwhile the corporation has started the process of identifying hotels to provide accommodation to the students. Many students who are on a strict budget will be given the option of staying in hostels and dormitories at a low cost. The list of hotels and other accommodation is expected to be ready by Monday. The KSTDC is also setting up help desks at railway stations and the airport to receive the CET candidates and guide them to their destinations. Students coming to the City will get a specially-prepared map of Bangalore showing the route to the 169 examination centres. The KSTDC will also help the students and their parents with its tour packages around the City and other tourist spots in Karnataka, after the examinations are over. Apart from being a perfect host, this will mean good business for the organisation, rated one of the best in the country.
