Police custody for Ansari

NEW DELHI MAY 6. A Delhi court today remanded Aftab Ansari, the main accused in the Kolkata shootout case outside the American Center, to 14 days police custody.

The Delhi police had brought Ansari here on a transit remand over the weekend for his interrogation in a case of "waging war" against the Government of India. Ansari had been extradited to India from Dubai.Prosecution had submitted the Metropolitan Magistrate, M.C. Gupta, that Aftab had a close nexus with Omar Sheikh of the Jaish-e-Mohammed, Azam Cheema and Abdul Karim alias Tunda, an Indian fugitive in Pakistan, of the Lashkar-e-Taiba and various other Pakistan-based terrorists waging a war against India. The other accused arrested in the case were working under Aftab's direct control. Besides, Ansari had sent several militants in India through Asif Raza and others, police said.

Ansari had sent several militants to Pakistan for training.
