Ganguly among tax defaulters
New Delhi
May 7.
Captain Saurav Ganguly and former skippers Mohammad Azharuddin and Kapil Dev were among the 33 cricketers against whom there were income tax dues totalling about Rs. 38 million, it was officially stated here today.
The present and former cricketers who have been assessed for income tax in the last three years also included Ajay Jadeja, Nikhil Chopra, Sunil Joshi, W V Raman and Nayan Mongia, the Rajya Sabha was told.
There were, however, no tax dues against batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar, S.S. Das, V.V.S Laxman, Sunil Gavaskar, Venkatesh Prasad, S. Sriram, Kiran More and S Venkataraghavan, according to Minister of state for Finance, Gingee Ramachandran. — PTI
