Deuba expelled

KATHMANDU May 23. Nepal's ruling Nepali Congress party today said it had expelled the Prime Minister, Sher Bahadur Deuba, from its ranks, angered by his move to dissolve Parliament.

On Wednesday, Mr. Deuba asked King Gyanendra to disband Parliament and call an election after members of the Nepali Congress objected to a plan to extend a state of emergency to tackle the communist insurgency.

Three Cabinet Ministers resigned today citing differences with Mr. Deuba.
