IT firm employees meet slum children

By Our Staff Reporter

Bangalore May 27. Employees of an information technology company interacted with children from slums on Monday to stress that "corporates cared''.

The interaction arranged at Kshema Dhama on Mysore Road, where Kshema Technologies is located. The company President and CEO, Anant Koppar, is behind the Utthana Charitable Trust, which supplies free meals to the children of Hope Foundation.

Mr. Koppar said the relationship of the trust and the foundation started in 2000. As many as 250 children had benefited from a scheme. "The idea behind the project is to help the State which has given me so much. I thought I would help underprivileged children,'' he explained.

Today, about 35 company volunteers help the trust in its work. Most of the children, aged between four and 12 years, are from Id Ka Mohallah, Tannery Road. They are students at the Hope Foundation school.

The Utthana Trust (for details, dial 299 5114/5/6)

is also associated with Samathana, which imparts education to physically challenged children, and Seva-in-action.
