In a complaint, Muniyan, brother-in-law of the deceased, said the incident took place on Tank Bund Road on Thursday. Rajashekhar, who was walking ahead of him, touched an electricity cable which was lying on the ground, and suffered burns. He died in the Victoria Hospital on Thursday night. Muniyan alleged that the death was caused due to the negligence of KPTCL. Muniyan said he and Rajashekhar were working on the Benniganahalli bridge project undertaken by the ECS Construction Company.
