Musharraf reiterates support

ISLAMABAD JUNE 7. Three days after inking at Almaty, a declaration pledging not to support separatist movements, the Pakistan President, Pervez Musharraf, today toed his old line of continuing to support the Kashmiris' struggle for ``self-determination.''

Talking to representatives of the All-Party Hurriyat Conference from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir here, Gen. Musharraf reiterated Islamabad's ``moral, diplomatic and political support to the indigenous struggle for self-determination of the Kashmiri people,'' and adding that ``Pakistan wants a just and negotiated settlement of the Kashmir dispute.''

The Hurriyat representatives ``appreciated'' the steps taken by Pakistan to draw international attention to the Kashmir issue, an official release said. They also supported Islamabad's policy of "restraint in the face of Indian troops' mobilisation." The Hurriyat leaders also expressed their support for Pakistan's call for a dialogue and the settlement of all outstanding issues through meaningful negotiations, the release added.
