Jayalalithaa to back NDA nominee

CHENNAI June 10. Involving herself in the efforts to create a consensus on the Presidential candidate, the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, today assured the Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, of support to the candidate of the National Democratic Alliance.

Mr. Vajpayee spoke to Ms. Jayalalithaa in the morning and the two leaders reached an agreement on the candidate.

The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, had talked to her seeking support for the same candidate. Now, she along with Mr. Naidu would join efforts to build a consensus.
