Arafat Govt. begins work

Ramallah (West Bank) June 14 Yasser Arafat's newly reorganised Palestinian government began work here today on a plan of action for its first 100 days, officials said.

A commission composed of eight Ministers met to map out the strategy of the new Palestinian Authority Cabinet announced on Sunday, the Information Minister, Yasser Abed Rabbo, told AFP.

Mr. Abed Rabbo, who is heading the commission, said it had been formed by Mr. Arafat on Monday but was unable to meet because of the three-day Israeli occupation of Ramallah that ended late Wednesday.

The commission comprises new and reappointed Ministers from Mr. Arafat's reshuffled government, which was pared down from 31 to 21 posts.

It is to be dissolved when elections are held, possibly as early as January.

Mr. Arafat said yesterday during the new Government's first Cabinet meeting that he would announce a date for the municipal, legislative and presidential elections in a few days' time.
