The Pakistan Foreign Office termed the incident as a "heinous crime" and a blatant violation of the International Humanitarian Law and sought a "thorough inquiry" into the incident. Colour photographs showing the signs of torture on Ahmed's body were handed over to the Indian Acting High Commissioner. The Pakistan Foreign Office spokesman, Aziz Ahmed Khan, earlier said that Islamabad planned to complain to the United Nations on the incident.
