Sensex dips below 3200-mark

MUMBAI JUNE 26. Key heavyweight counters Reliance Industries (RIL) and Infosys Technologies moved further downwards pushing the sensex below 3200-mark at close on the Bombay Stock Exchange today on fresh sell-off by foreign institutional investors (FIIs) and public investors.

Shares of Hindustan Lever, however, scored handsome gains, aiding the sensex to mitigate its losses, on fairly good buying support prompted by the Government's decision to allow up to 100 per cent FDI in tea plantations.

The BSE 30-share index opened moderately lower at 3200.79 and gradually moved downwards to the intra-day low of 3176.05 before ending at 3180.89 against the previous close of 3214.35, netting a fall of 33.45 points or 1.04 per cent. The BSE-100 index dipped by 18.38 points to 1624.97 from 1643.35. — PTI
