By B. Muralidhar Reddy
The Pakistan Information Minister, Nisar Memon, made the plea at the 29th Islamic Conference of Foreign Ministers (ICFM) in Khartoum, Sudan. He alleged that since September 11 India had tried to ``malign Kashmiri struggle by exploiting international concern over terrorism." The Minister accused India of intensifying ``repression'' against the Kashmiri people and their leadership. Pakistan had consistently offered dialogue to India to address all issues, including Kashmir, which was the core issue in the heart of tension between Islamabad and Delhi. ``India not only refuses dialogue but also rejects all efforts for mediation, good offices, arbitration and suggestions for international investigation and monitoring.'' India had shown "utter disregard" for norms of responsible international behaviour, he added. Pakistan could not accept any suggestion to ``placate or accommodate'' India in any manner and New Delhi was embarked on a ``rapacious policy of occupation in Kashmir.'' The Minister said that Palestine in West Asia and Kashmir in South Asia "were challenges to international morality and conscience for over half a century."
Convention on terrorism approved
Pakistan today approved the OIC Convention on Combating International Terrorism that binds all signatories not to support any ``terrorist acts directly or indirectly.'' It was adopted at a Cabinet meeting chaired by the Pakistan President, Pervez Musharraf.
