Kannadiga meet from today

MANGALORE JUNE 28. A two-day Horanada Kannadiga Samavesha will be held here from Saturday. Over 250 delegates, artistes, poets and writers will participate in the cultural kaleidoscope of Kannada's culture as practised in different States.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, the Director of Kannada and Culture, C.Somashekar, said that the delegates were coming from Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi and Goa. This was a unique experiment of uniting Kannadigas on one platform characterised by only the cultural aspect of Kannada. The programmes would include dance, drama, Kavi Goshti, music, introspection and an overview of Kannada activities in other States.

Mr. Somashekar said that the highlight of the meet would be the symposium on ``Horanada Kannadigaru-Ondu Avalokana'', which would be presided by the Head of the Department of Kannada, Madras University, Shrikrishna Bhat Artikaje.

Papers on ``Kannada schools in other States'' would be presented by Ravi Anchan of Mumbai, "Cultural relations" by B.R.Manjunath, "Kannada organisations in other States" by B.Ramchandra Rao of Hyderabad, ``Gadinada Kannadigaru'' by D.K.Chowta Manjeshwar and that on ``Kananda and Culture in other States'' would be presented by Mamathasagar of Hyderabad.
