Cong. mum on PM statement

NEW DELHI JUNE 28. Given the prevailing situation in Jammu and Kashmir, the Congress today declined to comment on the Prime Minister's remarks vis-a-vis President's rule in the State ahead of the coming Assembly elections. Asked to react on the Prime Minister's statement that the Government might consider imposing President's rule in the strife-torn State to ensure free and fair elections, the Congress spokesman, Jaipal Reddy, said the party would prefer to reserve the comment till the Government took it into confidence about the rationale for such a move.
