Karnataka yet to release water

New Delhi June 28. Karnataka is yet to respond to the Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee's request to release Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu, sources in the Water Resources Ministry today said.

The sources said they would wait a day or two for the response considering the fact that the Karnataka Chief Minister, S.M. Krishna, was busy with political developments such as restructuring his Cabinet in the last few days.

The Prime Minister, who is the Chairman of the Cauvery River Authority (CRA), had asked Mr. Krishna on June 26 to release three tmc ft. of water as a "goodwill gesture". — UNI
