Andhra Pradesh-Hyderabad
By Our Special Correspondent
Speaking to reporters on his arrival from Tirupati, the BJP chief said he would reorganise the party set-up at the national level in the first fortnight of this month. Mr. Naidu, who was given a big reception by BJP leaders and workers at the airport, said he was overwhelmed by the response of partymen at Nellore, Tirupati and Hyderabad to his appointment to the highest position. "I am confident that with such enthusiasm among the partymen I will be able to take the party forward,'' he said. Earlier, hundreds of BJP supporters turned up at Begumpet and greeted their new national president with garlands, bouquets and saffron-coloured scarves. Among them were the Union Ministers, Ch. Vidyasagar Rao, U. V. Krishnam Raju, the BJP State president, C. Ramachandra Reddy, party's floor leader in the Assembly, K. Lakshman, besides MPs, MLAs and party functionaries. Bandaru Dattatreya, who has assumed charge as Minister of State for Railways, also arrived by the same flight from Tirupati. He was received among others by the General Manager of South Central Railway, S. M. Singla, and senior railway officials. The BJP city unit later took Mr. Naidu in a procession to the State office at Banjara Hills where he was given a traditional reception.
