London July 8 Isa Guha, 17, is the first Indian to join the England women's cricket team and will play in a series of one-day internationals beginning this week between England, India and New Zealand in Jersey.

A medium-pace bowler from High Wycombe, Isa was introduced to cricket by her brother Kaushik, The Daily Telegraph has reported. Originally from Kolkata, Isa's father Barun Guha, a busienssman came to Britain in 1965.

Isa played in boy's teams before playing for the Thames Valley women's team in the Premier Division and the England under-19.

Barely five-feet tall Isa is a great admirer of the present Indian men's cricket team. ``I like Tendulkar and I think the Indian batsmen are stylish but I support England and I have always wanted to support England.''

Her mother Roma, said, ``If England is not playing, I might support India.''

Apart from playing cricket Isa is studying for A-levels in chemistry, human biology and maths at the High Wycombe Grammar School.— UNI
