1 killed in police firing

By Manas Dasgupta

AHMEDABAD JULY 8. One person was killed in police firing and at least 15 were injured in a communal riot in Chhota-Udepur town of Vadodara district in Gujarat.

The riot was sparked off by a quarrel between two boys of the same community. One of them hid in a tempo, while the other, chasing him, smashed the windscreen of the vehicle. The tempo belonged to a member of the rival community.

The children escaped but the damaging of the windscreen led to a clash, in which 50 shops and kiosks were set afire.
