Jail for Benazir

By B. Muralidhar Reddy

ISLAMABAD July 9. A court in Rawalpindi today convicted the former Pakistan Prime Minister, Benazir Bhutto, in a corruption case and sentenced her to three years of rigorous imprisonment in absentia. Also, it ordered the confiscation of her immovable properties in Pakistan.

Her formal conviction, along with the new rules framed by the Musharraf Government, would make it impossible for her to contest the October general elections.
