Asian shares dive

HONG KONG July 11. Share prices tumbled across Asia on Thursday, following Wall Street's lead as it plunged to its lowest level this year, dampening hopes of a speedy recovery in the U.S. economy.

Japan's 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average plummeted 266.92 points. In New York, investors struggled to find a direction on Thursday, following a three-day sell-off that saw the Dow industrials fall below the 9,000 level and sent the rest of the market to levels not seen since five years. — AP
