Call to revamp Delhi BJP

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI JULY 12. With the formal appointment of Madan Lal Khurana, MP and former Delhi Chief Minister, as president of the Delhi unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party, the State unit leaders met the party president, Venkaiah Naidu, this morning and suggested that the party unit be revamped.

Mr. Naidu announced that he had accepted the resignation of the outgoing Delhi BJP chief, Mange Ram Garg. Mr. Khurana is expected to take charge on July 15.

Mr. Khurana, with his knowledge of Delhi's problems, would be able to steer the party to victory in the Assembly elections next year, Mr. Naidu said.

He said the consultation process for reorganising the State units was on. But, the leadership may not find it necessary to change many State unit presidents.
