Bush `deeply concerned' over Kashmir

By Sridhar Krishnaswami

Washington July 16. The President, George W.Bush, continues to be `deeply concerned' about the violence in Kashmir and has been working very hard `with quite a bit of success' to reduce tensions between India and Pakistan, the White House says. "The President continues to be deeply concerned about the violence in Kashmir. The President, as you know, has been working very hard with quite a bit of success, along with other members of his administration and the international community, to reduce the tension between India and Pakistan over this `disputed area', the White House spokesman, Ari Fleischer, remarked during a press conference on Tuesday. "It continues to be an area of great concern and volatility. It remains an area of active American diplomatic engagement'', Mr. Fleischer said, while commenting on last week's massacre in Kashmir.
