Omar Sheikh files appeal

By B. Muralidhar Reddy

ISLAMABAD July 19. The prime accused in the Daniel Pearl kidnap and murder case, Omar Saeed Sheikh, today filed an appeal against the Hyderabad Court`s death sentence against him. Three co-accused in the case, who have been awarded life sentence, have also appealed against the judgment.

In his appeal, Omar Sheik, maintained that he was innocent and falsely implicated in the case.

The petitioner said the trial court (Anti-Terrorism Court for Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas division) misread the evidence produced by the prosecution and also did not consider the documentary and other evidence of the defence.
