Letters to the Editor
Sir,__ The letter titled ``Whimsical rule'' (July 6): It is mandatory for senior citizens availing of concession train tariff to carry documentary proof of age during journey. The rules governing concession are printed on the reverse of the ticket and also furnished in detail in the Southern Railway Timetable. Production of age proof during the journey has been made mandatory to prevent misuse of the concession and this should not be misconstrued as a source of inconvenience. The concession is granted only on request at the time of booking of the tickets and those who do not have the proof have the option to decline the concession. S. Sridhar, CPRO, S. Rly, Chennai
