He made this statement after inaugurating the Tippu Sultan Computer Training Centre of the Bellary unit of Idara-e-Tahaffuz-o-Taraakki- Urdu. Stating that Muslims led by Sheikh Abdullah prevented the attack on Kashmir by Pakistan then, he said the community there had declared that the State was part of India. Under such circumstances, branding Muslims as terrorists was unwarranted, he added. He said infiltration of terrorists was mainly due to the failure of intelligence and the foreign policy of the Centre. Highlighting the importance of computer education, Mr. Baig said students should also improve their general knowledge, which would lead to personality development. Mr. Baig said that a Haj House was being constructed in Bangalore at an estimated cost of Rs. four crore, and students from different parts of the State coming to that city for higher studies could make use of the building. He appealed to the community to make use of the welfare schemes of the State Government. M.Diwakar Babu, Minister of State for Cooperation, said knowledge of computer had become a necessity. People, especially youths, should take advantage of computer centres and get ready to face the challenges, he added. Mr. Babu said the Government had contributed a lot for the development of Urdu. Vacant Urdu teachers' posts were being filled in the State. To a plea to fill Kannada teachers' posts in Urdu schools, he promised to look into the matter. He said the Government had sanctioned Rs. 19 lakh to construct a "shadi mahal" at Vaddarbanda. Steps would be taken to complete it at the earliest, he added. Kolur Basavanagouda, Bellary MP, promised to release Rs. five lakh from the MP's local area development fund for the computer centre.
