Letters to the Editor
Sir, Seats in all colleges are reserved for SC/ST/OBC because these are made mandatory by the Government but it is not so for the physically handicapped category. Why are students in this category left to compete with general students? There was no seat reserved for PH category in Delhi University's courses of B.I.T/B.I.S/B.Sc.(H) computer science earlier, but this time they provided reservation in B.Sc.(H) computer science. Even in the IIIT-Calcutta admission advertisement (July 14) there is no mention of reservation for PH students. In the admission advertisement of IIMs, though three per cent seats are reserved for PH students, they have to purchase forms at the same cost as general students. There seems to be no platform from where this indifference can be questioned. They should be provided with the same facility to purchase the prospectus at the cost at which SC/ST/OBC are allowed to purchase.
