Letters to the Editor
Sir, With the Deputy Prime Minister, L.K. Advani, calling up the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, and terming the failure to send an invitation to her for the swearing-in of the President, A.P.J. Kalam, as unfortunate, the controversy may come to an end now. But this incident and the controversy over the allocation of seats during the swearing-in ceremony of Ms. Jayalalithaa as the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister to the Leader of Opposition, Anbazhagan, and the then Chennai Mayor, M.K. Stalin, have raised a few questions. These issues have been swept under the carpet by the powers that be. It is time Governments (be it at the Centre or the State) drew up a list of who is to be invited for such functions.
