Not a beauty contest

Sir, — We should be proud of having an internationally known scientist, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, as our President. At the same time, we should be highly ashamed of hearing comments on his hairstyle and attire. Great scientists such as Einstein never bothered about their hairstyle or beard or dress. The Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, did not dress up.

After all, Dr. Kalam is not going to appear in any beauty contest.

S.R. Radhakrishnan,
Chennai
