Letters to the Editor
Sir, Apropos the Editorial `Democracy and Development' (July 29), it is pathetic to see the plight of India despite its resources. No doubt, targeting poverty has to be through the hunger-education-health triad. Yet, any measure towards hunger and health without the foundation of education can only be superficial. If reduction in extreme poverty is challenging, it is because of the compartmentalisation of the components of the triad due to the non-availability of either funds or expertise or both in more than one area at the same time in the same place. Opinions have to go beyond expression and culminate in action.
