Qamar advances

MANCHESTER JULY 30. Mohamed Ali Qamar of India made it to the light flyweight boxing quarterfinals beating Suleiman Wanjau Bilali of Kenya. The referee stopped the contest in the second round, as the Kenyan bled from the nose following a nasty left hook from Qamar.

Qamar, who had finished fifth in the world championship, will take on Sebusiso Keketsi of Lesotho in the quartefinals. He was the third Indian to make the quarterfinals after Som Bahadur Pun and Jitender Kumar.
