Indian bid along LoC foiled: Pak.

By B. Muralidhar Reddy

ISLAMABAD Aug. 3. Pakistan has claimed to have successfully "foiled an attempt" by the Indian troops to establish a new post along the Line of Control in the Neelum Valley Sector in Pak. occupied Kashmir (PoK).

In a press statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate alleged that the attempt in violation of established ground rules was thwarted after a heavy exchange of fire between the two sides.

``Heavy exchange of artillery fire has been going on in the sector, where some time ago the Indians attempted to establish a new post. Having failed in their efforts, the Indians made another attempt to re-establish the post, which has also been successfully beaten back, causing considerable casualties to the enemy.

Failed Indian efforts to dominate us continued during the day, while Pakistan Armed Forces remained on their determined vigilance," the statement said.

Six more on U.S. list

In another development the United States is believed to have placed six more Pakistanis on the list of suspect terrorists, businesses and organisations that are suspected of supporting terrorism in Pakistan.

The Pakistan daily, The News, said that the U.S. Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has issued a new list of specially designated nationals and other persons whose property is blocked worldwide.

The list reveals names of a number of businesses in Pakistan and organisations suspected of funds transactions linked to terrorist activities.

The report said West Asian police had reportedly found one of them, Zia Ahmad, linked to the September 11 attacks.

Saiyid Abd Al-Man'am, alias Agha Haji Abdul Manan, is another Pakistani placed on the list of specially designated persons suspected of terrorist activity.

Yet another Pakistani is Nasir Ali Khan, who has been listed for narcotic trade. Two new names, Abdul Majid Chaudhry and Haji Ibrahim Khan Afridi, have been listed as suspects in terrorist activity.
