The win in the third and deciding game gave Canada a well-deserved 2-1 victory in the series. The Canadians relied on dogged determination, patience and perseverance to surprise their more experienced opponent. The West Indies `A' appeared to have posted a winning total of 204 for seven off its 50 overs as Canada had difficulty posting decent totals in the previous two matches against a fiery attack. But the Canadian batsmen finally blossomed as left-hander Ishwar Maraj and Nicholas de Groot both carved out half-centuries and skipper Joe Harris weighed in with an unbeaten 32 as Canada reached 207 for five with just four balls to spare. Canada made a tentative start to its innings after losing its first three wickets for 39 runs, but Maraj and de Groot paved the path for victory by putting on an invaluable partnership of 100 for the fourth wicket and taking the score to 139. Then de Groot and Harris deflated the West Indies `A' by putting on 47 for the fifth wicket with quick, well-taken runs. Maraj made a painstaking 51 in 184 minutes, while de Groot was quicker in reaching his 57 in just 122 minutes.
Earlier, the West Indies `A' also started off slowly after its first three wickets fell for 23 runs, but the middle order of Dwayne Bravo (45), Ryan Hinds (24), Gareth Breese (68) and Reon King (25 not out) flayed the Canadian bowlers to put up a reasonable total. The scores: West Indies `A' 204 for seven in 50 overs (Dwayne Bravo 45, Gareth Breese 68, Reon King 25 not out) lost to Canada 207 for five in 49.2 overs (Ishwar Maraj 51, Nicholas de Groot 57, Joe Harris 32 not out).
