Letters to the Editor
Sir, I am amused and dismayed to read a report about the extent of hooch menace and the measures initiated by the Kerala Government and its Excise Department to prevent the sale of spurious liquor during the coming Onam season. Such measures have been of little assistance to prevent hooch consumption in the past. The tendency of people to seek spurious liquor even when safe ones are available in plenty is a slap on the face of the Government and the exchequer. Hence, as a deterrent, the Government should widely advertise that no assistance would be forthcoming to persons who fall ill after drinking hooch. K.M. Menon, Thrissur, Kerala
