Stranded Amarnath pilgrims resume journey

By Our Staff Reporter

JAMMU AUG. 12. Over 1,000 Amarnath pilgrims who were stranded on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway resumed their pilgrimage today morning. The national highway was blocked since Sunday last due to landslides owing to rains lashing the upper reaches of the Jammu region. But no yatra was allowed to proceed from the MAM stadium today for the Amarnath due to heavy rain in the region.

Yesterday, thousands of vehicles on either side of Ramban remained stranded for the day. Traffic was hit on the national highway from Karol to Maroog near Ramban due to the landslides. The pilgrims were accommodated in Government buildings.
