Letters to the Editor
Sir, The VHP functionary's demand for Magsaysay award winner, Sandeep Pandey's arrest under POTA is irresponsible and should be condemned in the strongest possible words. Being a U.S. degree holder, Mr. Pandey could have opted for a bright career and a luxurious life. Instead, he chose to serve the people marginalised by the upper caste-dominated society. Organisations such as the VHP, the RSS, the Bajrang Dal and the Shiv Sena, who claim to be nationalists, actually indulge in anti-national activities. What wrong has Mr. Pandey done in serving those who have been exploited for centuries in the name of `varna' and caste and are still living outside villages in sub-human conditions? These groups are solely responsible for disturbing communal harmony and peace. Deepak Yadav, Jaunpur, U.P.
